2020 SCHOOL TOBACCO AWARENESS

Principal, Dr. Alpana Sharma, and the
teachers participated actively and organized well the gathering. Students asked
IcanWin Foundation volunteers as to why government is not invoking a blanket
ban when its killer, poisonous and cancerous. Also is it that the campaign
aimed at Tobacco abuse or would it also cover other addictions that affects
youth of India? ICanWin Foundation volunteers explained that tobacco is the
first step of addiction and hence its important to cover the foundation to
protect them lifelong.
Tobacco sensitization program is supported by District
Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC, c/o Chief Medical Officer Meerut, Govt of UP)
,
under the National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) 2019-20
coverage. 

Volunteers deliberated on the ill effects of tobacco on the youth, their
family members and members in the society, overall health and financial burden
in India and explained the relevance of SAVE the Youth – Win Over Tobacco
program to control tobacco menace.

“Be Smart Do Not Start” comic booklet on tobacco awareness authored by Dr
Pawan Gupta, MS MCH (National President of ICanWin Foundation and Sr Cancer
Surgeon) was distributed among the 206 students and teachers; a quiz
competition was conducted at the end to which students answered as per their
understanding.

A Tobacco Control Committee consisting of 4 teachers was formed in the
school to keep an eye on different tobacco related activities and its violation
under COTPA 2003.Yellow line campaign conducted with a painting depicting the
school as tobacco free zone.
