Our Journey
2008: Inception and Vision
Founded in 2008 by a dedicated team of doctors, engineers, lawyers, and industry professionals, the I Can Win Foundation was established to address the critical needs of cancer patients and promote awareness about cancer prevention and treatment.
2009: Launch of ‘Catch Them Early’ Campaign
Organized large-scale breast cancer awareness walks to promote self-examination and early recognition of signs and symptoms. This laid the groundwork for community mobilization and women-centric health education. The year saw the launch of:
- Cancer awareness talks and ASHAs workshops
- Cycle rally for cancer awareness
- Conferences and executive meets on cancer, breast cancer, and the role of pathologists in oral screening
2010-11: Expanding Outreach through I Can Win Walks and Health Talks
- Conducted I Can Win walks and rallies to amplify cancer awareness
- Initiated tobacco-related health talks
- Organized cancer screening camps across communities
2012: Launch of “Chota Daana” Campaign and School Awareness Programs
Introduced the ‘Chhota Daana’ campaign, promoting self-examination and early detection of pre-cancerous lesions (shooting of any abnormal chota dana in the body). It marked a significant step towards cancer prevention.
Building upon earlier efforts, the foundation formally introduced comprehensive
school-based programs to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco, reaching thousands of students across various regions.
2013: Scaling of Health Camps and Community Outreach
Scaled up oral cancer and tobacco-induced disease screening camps, providing free detection and counseling services in underserved regions.
2014: Formalizing I Can Win Walks
Established ‘I Can Win’ Walks as recurring public events to promote early detection and tobacco-free lifestyles, with increased media and civic participation.
2015: Advocacy through Signature Campaigns for Tobacco Control Policies
Launched signature campaigns to advocate for stronger tobacco control laws, mobilizing citizens to support tobacco cessation policies and reforms.
2016–2019: Professional Training
Rolled out structured training programs for doctors, dentists, and healthcare workers focused on tobacco cessation intervention and early detection best practices.
2020-21: Digital Expansion
Initiated Sunday Live programs, conducted weekly for 52 weeks, engaging various
professional groups, industries, and children on the harms of tobacco and the importance of quitting, followed by guidance on accessing professional help and cessation services.
2022-2023: Capacity Building
Was funded by Bajaj Electrical Foundation to specifically build capacity for 220 healthcare professionals in tobacco cessation clinical intervention across the country.
2023: Establishment of Tobacco Cessation and Oral Care Centers
To make cessation services widely accessible, the foundation began setting up dedicated Tobacco Cessation and Oral Care Centers. These centers offered comprehensive support, including counseling, treatment, and follow-up care for individuals seeking to quit tobacco and improve their oral health. Bajaj Electrical Foundation again joined hands with the foundation to set up the first Oral Care and Tobacco Cessation Centre at Numed Hospital, Noida.
2024–Present: Launch of the Pink Angel Campaign and Ongoing Initiatives
In recent years, the foundation launched the Pink Angel Campaign, focusing on enhancing maternal and child health. This initiative aims to provide education, resources, and support to mothers and children, promoting overall well-being. The foundation continues to conduct awareness programs, health camps, professional training, and community outreach to fulfill its mission of winning over cancer.
Looking Ahead
The I Can Win Foundation will now be recognised as ICanCaRe Foundation and will remain steadfast in its commitment to creating a healthier, tobacco-free future. By continually expanding its programs and adapting to the evolving healthcare landscape, the foundation strives to make a lasting impact on cancer prevention, tobacco deaddiction and treatment.
